Ginseng plants are picked when the berries ripen.

Now that the ginseng is ready to be picked, we carefully pick each ginseng plant by hand. Notice the bright red berries. These berries can be used for teas and other herbal remedies. This particular plant is very young. Depending on the medicine, we sometimes use a young ginseng plant for its delicate effects.

Next we dry the ginseng to preserve it.
