Alternative medicine is gaining popularity in Australia

DESPITE natural antipathy to health approaches that seriously challenge its pre-eminence, the medical profession can no longer afford to scoff at and reject all complementary and alternative medicine as non-scientific.

Rather than introducing “irrational nonsense” into its curriculum, as claimed by Rose Shapiro, the author Suckers: How Alternative Medicine Makes Fools of Us All (quoted in The Age, 5/7), the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners is being responsible and demonstrating appropriate leadership in tackling the controversial issue.
