Male fertility

Male fertility problems are the cause of many couple's failure to conceive. This article has some good advice for men seeking to increase thier fertility:

"Here are some top tips for couples trying for a baby.

*Abstinence does not improve men's sperm quality, as has been commonly assumed.

*Ideally, prospective fathers should eat a healthy, nutritionally-balanced diet including food rich in vitamins A, B, C and E and essential fatty acids found in oily fish and polyunsaturated fat.

*Men should also eat foods containing zinc and selenium.

*Herbalists also recommend drinking teas containing the following three times a day - cinnamon, cramp bark, ginger, ginseng, lemon balm, lady's mantle, motherwort, vervain, and winter cherry.

*Eating too many processed foods and snacks containing soya could have an adverse effect on sperm, according to research.

*Soya contains the female hormone oestrogen and is found in many foods including pizzas, pre-packaged meals and reconstituted mini meals.

*Using a laptop can also threaten fertility, according to findings in journal Human Reproduction. The heat generated by the computer combined with sitting with legs closed to balance it on your lap, can raise temperatures around the scrotum affecting sperm production."
